Engagement Support

Positive interactions and experiences children and young people have with family, friends, education and community model their path to adolescence and adulthood, which is why we believe their experience and relationships at home, school and in the wider community are three critical parts of a child and young person’s life and have a significant impact on their future.

Our aim is to support and minimise the impact adverse experiences can have on a child or young person, and to model a trauma recovery response to help them thrive.

Whether it’s through planned early intervention or in times of crisis, through relentless care and personalised approaches we can be there at any stage to help children and young people to overcome their barriers to engagement. All our work is designed to build children and young people’s resilience, improve engagement, support progress and to help them achieve.

Our range of specialist support uses an attachment theory approach and are child and young person focussed. We work with individuals or groups of children or young people in the community, in school settings or a combination of both across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and neighbouring areas.

Children's Work

All our children’s work is grounded in Play and Playwork Theory and supports the emotional and personal development of children. We provide safe spaces for children to play, learn valuable life skills, build resilience, improve their self-esteem and confidence, as well as access specialist help to overcome life challenges and trauma.

Our trained staff are experts in providing 1-1 or group work activities for all children to support learning, personal development and growth both in school settings and within the community.

I have witnessed how skilled play workers engage the most vulnerable children in positive activities that enhance their social and personal development through a varied menu of activities.

I’ve got four boys and I’ve been afraid to take them out as they are all different ages and want different things. I was happy to join the play sessions and they gave me confidence to do more with my kids

Youth Work

All children and young people need a wide ranging network of support which has a positive impact on their well-being and helps them to learn, develop and grow. When this support erodes, young people become increasingly isolated from positive role models and peers. Their support begins to diminish which makes already vulnerable, even more vulnerable.

Our role is to use Youth Work to help young people reconnect, re-engage and play a positive role in their wider environments, and we achieve this through 1:1, group work and personalised interventions.

By taking time to listen to young people, we develop specialist projects that are locally responsive and ensure that the right member of our experienced team works with the right individual or groups of young people.

Working across community and school settings, we deliver a range of 1:1 support and weekly group detached and centre-based Youth Sessions in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas.

LPW, Streetspace and Youth Moves are working collaboratively to deliver youth sessions in south Bristol. We are really pleased there is a single and joint up approach to supporting local young people

Specialist Projects

Working in the heart of communities, supporting children and young people in schools and at home gives us a comprehensive understanding of the everyday challenges young people face and the environments young people are growing up in. Our team of experienced Engagement Workers are known by young people, the community and professionals. They have built trust and rapport over many years and our insight means we can respond by putting specialist interventions in place quickly when support is needed.

Working collaboratively, we deliver a range of specialist projects, some of which include:

Training and Development for Professionals

Creating a strong and knowledgeable network is critical to providing the best possible support for children and young people. Drawing on our specialist knowledge and expertise, we have developed a range of training to provide information, advice and guidance to professionals that work with children and young people.

People reported it was relaxing, therapeutic, useful, give them lots of new ideas... teachers are very keen to get outdoors, the session did exactly what I wanted it to
