Young people reaching out to rough sleepers

22nd December 2017

This was something a group of young people in North Bristol developed themselves, out of a desire to do a social action project and make a difference in the community.

From one of LPW’s youth sessions at The Vench adventure playground in Lockleaze, the young people raised money to buy soup and bread to distribute to homeless people in Bristol City Centre.

In partnership with Second Step, which let the group use their kitchen and with help from the local Tesco’s store, the young people were able to reach more than 40 rough-sleepers in one evening. While the homeless people obviously benefited, the impact on the young people was also significant, giving them a real sense of the struggles of living on the street.
