Working in partnership to support more young people
27th October 2017
LPW is delighted to be working with Bristol Horn Youth Concern, which has been supporting young Somali people in Bristol’s inner city since 2012.
BHYC believes it is the community itself than can best create sustainable solutions to any problems. It uses sports like basketball and football to engage young people, with the aim of reducing anti-social behaviour and crime, and supporting them in education and employment.
LPW and BHYC are delivering partnership outreach work with young Somali people in areas like Easton, St Pauls and Lawrence Hill. LPW is also supporting BHYC with training sessions, office space and work to strengthen the organisation and its own sustainability.
“We’re a small organisation, with some volunteers and we’re grateful for the support from LPW to help us strengthen our community engagement and practices, as well as helping improve our organisation.” – Khalil Abdi, BHYC Chair, Khalid Ahmed, Secretary and Saed Ali, Treasurer.
