Changing young lives

In South Bristol, our Teen Fit programme, run in conjunction with Hengrove Leisure Centre, puts young people through their paces during eight once-a-week sessions aimed at boosting their fitness, diets and social interaction.

On Week One, they’re tested in 60 second press-up, squat, plank and shuttle-run bursts, producing a series of fitness and health goals they work on for the next seven weeks. These are measured at the end and the latest core group of eight 11 to 16 year olds all won certificates, reflecting big uplifts in their fitness, eating habits and their enthusiasm for getting out of the house, doing new things and making new friends.
