Shared Commissioning Services
The responsibilities for the planning and commissioning of 16-19 Education and Training provision (16-25 for those with learning difficulties and /or disabilities) transferred from the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) to local authorities on 1st April 2010.
In the West of England sub-regional planning is appropriate, given the interaction with the wider skills and economic development agenda, and the cross boundary travel to learn pattern. The four local authorities in the sub-region agreed to establish a shared commissioning service to undertake this function. Learning Partnership West have been commissioned by the four local authorities to undertake this work on their behalf.
Shared Commissioning Services will be responsible for preparing the 16-19 commissioning plan for the West of England sub-region and will work with each local authority to produce a local 16-19 commissioning plan.
